Why Do Many Students Consider Gym Class So Bad?

The researches analyze the data of the P.E. classes from 2007 to 2011. They found that it didn’t show any positive results on the fitness of the students. However, it had detrimental effects, which even increase the absence rates of students in the school. Analisa Packham, a professor who co-authored the study, said that bullying could be the potential reason for it. The students had to use a locker room where they have to face teasing if they are overweight or unathletic.

Many students who were not enjoying the P.E. preferred to skip school. However, the school that participated in the Fitness Program received considerable money to improve their physical classes. They also used the money to hire coaches and to buy equipment, including weights, ropes, resistance bands, etc. However, the program increased the number of misbehaving students. Many students considered gym class as the worst class in the school due to bullying.

The researchers found that the majority of students stay inactive in fitness classes in a study held in Texas. The research suggests that the addition of even 200 minutes in gym classes cannot benefit the student. The aim of the fitness classes is good. Harold Kohl, a health professor, suggested that the classes must involve healthy living and nutrition knowledge. It can show more results than the conventional gym class.
